The Mayor’s Task Force on Teenage and Young Adult Violence Reduction
Vision
By applying national benchmark practices to the crisis of gangs and youth violence in Newport News, we seek to create a full scale community strategic plan that will ensure safe neighborhoods for all our young people while reducing their involvement in gang life and halting the epidemic of violence.
Mission
To mobilize all of the resources and commitment of the faith community, business leaders, civic organizations, city departments, schools, leaders in higher education, nonprofit service providers, state and federal resources in order to draft and implement a comprehensive community-wide strategic plan for Newport News.
